I am sold on 13th-century poet, Rumi’s famous line “what you seek is seeking you”. It’s an awe-inspiring, mystical line that many have tried to interpret and makes me goggle-eyed at the pleasant thought of my every move being met by an equal push of prosperity in my direction!
It evokes the idea that we are co-creators in this world. That when you pursue the purpose that comes from deep inside of you, the world meets you halfway. What a captivating, empowering idea.
Accessing who you are, seeking your most aligned inclinations, and then expanding and acting on altruistic desires and dreams is the most scintillating part of being a human being. You set something in motion. It’s scientific and it’s mystical all at once, just like life.
I came across this recently: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The Prophet said, “Tie your camel and trust in Allah.”
Play your part and you will be met magnanimously halfway.
I am a mindset mentor and coach, and my job is to help people move towards what they want.
I always ask these questions:
Will you be still enough or take the time to know that deep well inside of you that is whispering its sweet clues to your mission?
Will you have the courage to clear what is in the way between you and your biggest offerings to the world; so you can show up, gifts in tow, unapologetically?
Will you stand unshakeable in the knowledge of who you are, even when you fall down? Moving on again and again, re-excavating the love.
Wherever I look in the wellness realm, experts all expound the idea on some level that what you seek is seeking you.
Oprah’s life coach, Martha Beck calls it steering by starlight. Caroline Myss cautions against straying from personal truth and expression as she connects it to illness or a life crisis. My metaphysical manuals are full of the physical perils of ignoring your truest life. The theme is prolific.
So I think I can safely steer my people towards knowing themselves and clearing every obstacle that’s in the way of shining like a sun. Alive! Your biggest project is to seek, discover and become you. The world will test you many times but it may also set on fire to meet you there.
